Engine Revamp

Will you guys be releasing any new engines (i.e. I3, I5, V6, V12, ect.) before or at the Engine revamp? And what are the major area's you guys are hitting with the Revamp?

Re: Engine Revamp

Just some of the many areas we work on currently are:

  • Bore should affect airflow
  • Adding new engine block material
  • Addition of more options in VVT and VVL systems
  • How VVT & VVL affects the cam profile
  • Flywheel mass & range, and smoothness calculations
  • MTTF / Servicing Revamp
  • Man Hours / Material Costs
  • Engine scaling and weight calculations

Re: Engine Revamp

You should also add two different types of flywheels, solid and dual-mass.

Re: Engine Revamp

There are a lot of things we could add, but not many things we should add considering that people would like to see a finished product at some point. :) While I think you understand that point, I would like to ask for effect: what advantage would such a flywheel bring except for shaving off just very few [kg] (or be a bit more efficient at equal weight)? This seems hardly like a feature worth the extra cluttering of the UI, and I don't see it adding any real value to the experience.

Re: Engine Revamp

A Dual mass flywheel would help improve smoothness and improve drivetrain life at the cost of a much more complex and heavy flywheel, where as s single mass flywheel (currently in game) is simple cheap and can be made very lightweight.

Many diesels and more expensive luxury cars have dual mass flywheels to either extend transmissions life or to smooth out the engines power.
