Are you talking about VVL (high/low cam) or VVT, makes a big difference.

With VVL you select a low cam and a high cam and it automatically finds the best switch point for the cams (when torque from the low cam is the lower than the high cam).

With VVT it automatically continues to adjust the valve timing through out the rev range and you the player doesn't select anything.

the demo crashes upon updating.
sas there is an update, when i press ok it says it will install after i press ok.
after doing so the launcher stops responding.
if i dont update the launcher closes directly.

OS: win 7 64 bit
tried both with and without admin rights.

//edit: i pressed options before the update screen came, options opened and threw errors at me...left them and the game started updating yay...wierd but working :D

Re: Engine Designer Demo - OFFICIAL BUGS THREAD

There was an issue with file permissions on the remote server right after the demo went live that caused everyone's launchers to crash - it should be fixed now

Re: Engine Designer Demo - OFFICIAL BUGS THREAD

I've been looking forward to this game, but I've really had a poor experience so far, still unable to play it.

First issue was that I can download the installer fine, but then the updater has no provision for carrying on where it left off, so if a large file drops out half way through, you need to start again. Had this happen 4 times before I could run it successfully.

Now it's installed, and I get this error:

Image

Pretty frustrating/time consuming/bandwidth consuming experience so far.

Hi bethels, sorry to hear that you are on of the few that are having issues. The downloads are all provided by the amazon cloud, so they are as fast, reliable and painless as we can make them. I hope your can understand that we are only 2 people at the core, and we are not a huge team with large resources. The launcher in it's various iterations has been in use for a year now, and the occurrence of issues like yours are low.

Anyway, all of this is just excuses, and doesn't help you with your problem. I am assuming that when you start the launcher, along it's title bar it states: "Automation Launcher B28 -- Automation Game Build: 86", you then press Play Demo and you get the exception error you posted. No Automation splash screen appears at all (rectangular box, styled like the website)?

Can you right click, properties on the Automation shortcut, and check it has been created properly, it should have the "Start in:" section set to the same path as "Target:" but without the "\Automation Launcher.exe". So it should look like the following:

Automation Shortcut.PNG
Automation Shortcut.PNG (61.15 KiB) Viewed 602 times

If that is not the issue, can you please run dxdiag (Windows Key + R, type in dxdiag, click on save all information) and send me the text file it generates to caswal@camshaftsoftware.com

Re: Engine Designer Demo - OFFICIAL BUGS THREAD

A friend of mine tried to replicate a 1.25L Ford Zetec-SE engine, but the Small engine's stroke doesn't go up far enough, and on Medium the bore doesn't go low enough.. Perhaps there should be a slight range adjustment? The figures for said engine are B71.9mm x S76.5mm ..

Just taking note of this, you don't HAVE to take action if you don't feel like it :P
