Real World Engines You've Made

Has anyone else made engines from real life? I started by building the 2.3L from my 1993 Ford Ranger and then built a Mazda F2.

Re: Real World Engines You've Made

I had written up a long answer but accidental hit post replay instead of submit and lost my answer... So this is a short version.

Yes I have but more importantly the beta testers and developers recreated hundreds of engines before the demo was released to see if the engine designer was reproducing correct and accurate data.

Just a couple. The 1.6i 16v from my 1994 Ford Escort. Just by putting the known data, it came very close to the real numbers. I love it.

Re: Real World Engines You've Made

I made the Dacia Logan 1.4 MPI engine earlier today, with just the small amount of data that I had, but it came pretty close to the real thing. (3 hp and about 4Nm off)

Re: Real World Engines You've Made

I've just made the Dacia 1310 engine, matching what info I could find on bore and stroke measurements, compression and how much HPs it should make, I managed to get pretty close.

I tried to build the 2.3's older brother with a 2 barrel carburetor and could not get it to run on Regular Fuel, without it detonating. Couldn't get it to make 88 horsepower at 4800rpm either.Always made around 100.

Re: Real World Engines You've Made

I'm working on an Atlas LK5 right now. The real engine has a 4 inch stroke and it seems it will only let me go up to 3.937, close enough I guess. Still some more tweaking to do to get the power output numbers right.

Re: Real World Engines You've Made

I started to build the GM LNF four cylinder (2.0L turbo direct-injection Ecotec) but the turbos aren't ready yet.

Naturally aspirated it still makes 155HP and 149lb-ft torque, which isn't too bad for a 2.0L four cylinder with a 6,000 RPM redline.
